I am pleased to announce that on May 10 and 11, 2023, the Office of the State Controller will host 2023 Governmental Accounting Update for Chief Fiscal Officers and agency designated representatives.  This virtual conference will provide an update on the recent activities of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).  Attendance will qualify for up to eight hours of CPE credit. The course description is attached for your review. The instructor’s biography is available on the Office of the State Controller's website.

The registration fee is $30 per attendee.  To register for this conference, visit the Office of the State Controller's website.  Please register as soon as possible, as the registration deadline is Friday, May 5, 2023.  Payments must be made on or before this date.  After this date, no requests for refunds will be considered.  Please refer to OSC’s registration policies for more information regarding refunds, cancellations, or complaints. 

Payment can be made by credit card or electronic transfer in the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) to the Office of the State Controller.  Agencies should register attendees individually (with separate email addresses).  Agencies using NCFS can submit one payment to cover all registration fees if all necessary notations have been made.  

If you are paying by electronic transfer, please follow the instructions below: 
•    NCAS agencies:  Use IGO vendor number 561611588-03.  For the cash transfer, in the NCFS Notes field, you must include the following for proper processing:  full names of all attendees and reference 2023 Governmental Accounting Update.  If this information is not included in the Notes field, the transfer will be rejected in NCFS.
•    Non-NCAS agencies paying through NCFS:  Use agency number 1400 for payment.  In the NCFS Notes field, you must include the following for proper processing:  full names of all attendees and reference 2023 Governmental Accounting Update.  If this information is not included in the Notes field, the transfer will be rejected in NCFS.

Chris Pembrook - Conference Speaker

Chris Pembrook, CPA, MBA, CGAP, CRFA

Christopher Pembrook is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Government Auditing Professional, and Certified Forensic Accountant who joined Crawford & Associates in September 2011. He has a degree in accounting from East Central University and an MBA from Oklahoma Christian University. Prior to joining the firm, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Oklahoma Police Pension & Retirement System. He also worked for the Oklahoma State Auditor’s Office for seven years, serving two of the years as the Deputy Director of the Local Government and Special Services Division. He currently serves as a committee member of the AICPA State and Local Government Expert Panel and the Oklahoma Society of CPA’s Government Accounting & Auditing Committee. He was also selected to serve on the joint COSO-ACFE Task Force for the development of the group’s Fraud Risk Management Guide. He is considered the firm’s expert on GASB Standards. Chris became a Crawford & Associates shareholder in 2017.
