To All NCAS Users:

Procedures for Logging On/Off NCAS:

Please review this information regarding the steps and processes to correctly log in/out of NCAS. 

Agencies can no longer use the SO function to reset themselves.  Due to technical problems in several modules, this feature was removed.  A solution to this issue is being reviewed, but will not be available for some time. 

When logging into NCAS there are two screens that users must log into.  The first screen is known as the CICS screen and uses a RACF ID logon.  A RACF ID usually begins with a letter with numbers mixed in.  If you receive a message on the CICS screen that states user is already logged on at ZDAXXX, you must re-enter your password and press the F12 key.  If this procedure does not release your RACF login, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 919-754-6000.  The OSC Help Desk CANNOT reset the CICS screen. 

Once you pass the CICS login screen, you are asked to log into NCAS using your Operator ID that consists of numbers only.  If you receive the message that states password verification failed, clear the screen twice, type MSAS and try to log on again.  Sometimes you receive a message that the session is in use by $XXX or @ XXX.  In this case, please let the OSC Help Desk know the exact message so that your User ID can be cancelled the correct way. 

It has come to our attention that some NCAS users are logging out of the system by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner of the session to end their NCAS sessions. This X should never be used to log out of your NCAS session.  If the X is used instead of logging out correctly, your user id will be locked.  The user will then have to call the OSC Help Desk to be released from the session.

Listed below are the correct procedures to log out of your NCAS session:

  • Press the Home key to move to the NEXT FUNCTION field.

  • Press the TAB key to move to the ACTION field.

  • Type SO in the ACTION field and press Enter.

  • Press the Pause key twice to clear the screen.

  • At the blank screen type LOGOFF and press Enter.

Please review these procedures with any staff members that use NCAS.
