While checking to be sure all files had been sent to the agency servers, OSC personnel also checked to be sure that desktop installation files had been unzipped for installation on client machines. There are servers that still have zipped files, indicating that the new desktop has not been installed.
As communicated to the LAN Administrators on February 15, 2000 in Memo: FSD-No. 000017, the Office of the State Controller will begin tonight, Monday, February 28, 2000, distributing data for the upgraded system only. In order to view current data in the upgraded data files, the client desktop must be installed. If you have not completed the desktop installations for your clients please do so as soon as possible.
Please note that a seat installed on a laptop counts as a licensed seat. The ncas/ncas_app/dss65/licenses file on your agency server must be updated for this seat.
If you have any questions, please call the OSC Help Desk at 919-875-HELP.
On Friday, February 25, 2000, the NCAS DSS nightly production process will produce data in both the current version of SmartStream and the upgraded version. Data creation and distribution processes will be validated during the weekend. On Monday, February 28, 2000, OSC will begin distributing data for the upgraded system only. All client desktops must be installed by that time. We will continue to produce some data views in the current version of SmartStream for a few days. However, this data from the old version will be distributed only on an as needed basis. After the new system is in production for a few weeks, we will send instructions outlining the files that can be deleted from servers and desktops to remove the old system.
If you have any questions, please call the Help Desk at 875-HELP.
