The Office of the State Controller (OSC) has delivered the upgraded North Carolina Accounting System (NCAS) Decision Support System (DSS) Software (previously referred to as "SmartStream") to your agency servers. Due to the increased expense associated with the maintenance of the upgraded software, client seats have been allocated to agencies based on size and need. The Chief Financial Officer for your agency has received a memo outlining the number of seats allocated for your agency. Please contact the Chief Financial Officer before installing the new NCAS DSS desktop on client machines to determine the number of seats available for your agency.

The upgraded software and desktop files have been distributed to your server via FTP. The upgraded software files are located in the /ncas/ncas_app/dss65 directory on your server. There is a readme.txt file on the server that outlines the steps required to implement the new software at your site. The first set of instructions details the files that must be customized for your specific server drive mappings and the second set of instructions details the steps to load the new desktop on client workstations. On Monday, February 28, 2000, we will begin to distribute the data for the upgraded system. All client desktops must be installed by that time. After the new system is in production, we will send instructions outlining the files that can be deleted from the old system.
