| SUBJECT: | 1999 Governmental GAAP Update Satellite Teleconference |
The GFOA will be using satellite teleconferencing technology to make its highly popular Annual Governmental GAAP Update readily accessible to financial professionals throughout the United States. The Office of the State Controller is sponsoring a downlink site in North Carolina. Our site location is at the Department of Administration Building, 116 West Jones Street, Raleigh, NC. The teleconference is scheduled for Wednesday, November 10, 1999, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. The registration fee is $75 (make checks payable to the GFOA). Due to the limited number of seats, we must restrict this seminar to 65 participants.
Stephen J. Gauthier, Director of GFOA's Technical Services Center, will present the 1999 Annual Governmental GAAP Update. The presentation will qualify for 4 hours of continuing professional education credit. Key topics include an overview of the GASB's new governmental financial reporting model, reporting model implementation issues, new guidance on nonexchange transactions, applying modified accrual accounting under the new governmental financial reporting model, year 2000 disclosure requirements, a review of the GASB's ongoing technical agenda, and common reporting deficiencies encountered in the GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program.
Enclosed is a course registration form. Please return the registration form along with the required fee of $75 directly to the GFOA, Dept. 77-3076, Chicago, IL 60678-3076. The GFOA must receive registration and payment no later than November 3, 1999 to ensure delivery of the participant guides. Registrants will receive a confirmation letter from the GFOA.
