Once an order has been released and allocated in the NCAS, a pick list is generated for the order. The pick list shows the allocated quantity for each item to be picked. Once the items have been picked, the picking activity must be posted in the NCAS.
If a pick is posted in the NCAS with no exceptions, the following item balances decrease by the quantity picked as soon as the pick is posted:
Note: As the on-hand
quantity at the warehouse decreases by the quantity picked, the on-hand
quantity in the staging area increases by the quantity picked. In other
words, the inventory is moved from the online storage area of the warehouse
to the online staging area.
For example, if nine chocolate bars are allocated to the snack bar’s order and nine are picked, the on-hand quantity, allocated quantity, released requirements quantity and total requirements quantity at the food supply warehouse decrease by nine as soon as the pick is posted in the NCAS. At this time, the items have moved from the online storage area to the online staging area.

A partial pick also works in the same way as a pick without an exception. Since partial picks are incomplete, the NCAS assumes that the remaining quantity of the pick will be posted at a later time. Therefore, all the item balances are adjusted only by the quantity physically picked and posted to the NCAS.
