Establishing Warehouse Information

For inventory activity to be processed and recorded within the NCAS Inventory module, warehouse managers must define online warehouses and specific areas within those warehouses. The system cannot record the receipt or delivery of goods to or from undefined warehouses, nor can items be linked to undefined warehouses. Warehouse areas established in the NCAS represent the actual physical areas within a real warehouse. Additionally, the transactions entered in the NCAS reflect the physical movement of goods into, out of, and within these same agency warehouses.

The NCAS Inventory module allows warehouse managers some flexibility in establishing warehouse information. For example, warehouses that are located in different physical locations can be defined either as separate warehouses or as separate storage areas within one large warehouse. Similarly, different warehouse operations within the same building may be defined either as separate storage areas within a warehouse or as distinct warehouses.

The warehouse manager can also use the Inventory module to select special processing features for his or her warehouse. Examples of such features include the following:
