Deallocating Picking Activity

If items are returned to a warehouse storage location and no

Activity replacement items are needed, the inventory must be deallocated from the order so that the order can be closed. Items are deallocated on the Pick List Deallocation (PLD) screen.

Deallocation frees the inventory so that it may be allocated to other incoming orders. In order to deallocate items from an order, you must first use the Return Items by Pick List (RIP) screen to return the items to their online storage areas. Then, the entire quantity returned can be deallocated using the Pick List Deallocation (PLD) screen.

Once a pick has been deallocated, the order still has a status of 5 for partially allocated. This status indicates that items will still be reallocated to the order unless it is closed. Therefore, if the replacement items are not needed and there are no other open lines on the order, the order must now be closed using the Usage Order Close (UOC) screen. However, if there are other open lines pending, use the Usage Order Line Item Update (UOLU) screen to reduce the ordered quantity so that it equals the current allocated quantity. This will prevent the item from being reallocated without closing the order.

Inventory may need to be deallocated from an order for reasons other than a return. If you are not returning inventory using the Return Inventory By Pick List (RIP) screen but need to deallocate items from an order for other reasons, you must follow these guidelines:

When items are returned, certain item balances updates immediately occur. Other item balances will not be adjusted until the items are deallocated and the order is closed
