The NCAS uses documents in addition to inventory detail records to classify and separate inventory items. Assigning a document to any quantity of inventory on an inventory detail record splits the inventory into two separate detail records. In this section, you will learn two methods for creating and assigning a document to inventory items. Method 1 is lengthier but allows you to enter additional information about the items into the system. In contrast, Method 2 is quicker and easier, but does not allow you to enter any additional information about the items into the NCAS.
