Regardless of whether a pick is manually posted (using the Post Picking Activity (PPA) screen) or automatically posted (using the automatic picking function), the automatic shipment function records an order as shipped as soon as it is posted in the NCAS. However, warehouse staff must still physically ship the items to the consumer. Automatic shipment does not automatically close the order.

Automatic shipment is the preferred method of shipment offered by the NCAS. The NCAS is set to always perform this function. If necessary, automatic shipment can be disabled via the Warehouse Area Entry (WHAE) or Warehouse Area Update (WHAU) screens by typing N for no in the AUTO SHIP field.

With automatic shipment, you do not need to use the Order Shipment (OS) screen.
