The system immediately validates any accounting distribution entered for a group account on the Group Account Entry (GAE) screen. The company code must be provided for the system to validate the distribution. If the company code is not included in the distribution, the system displays a warning message that the distribution has not been validated. However, the system will validate other incomplete accounting distributions, such as those without an account or a center. The system will also display an error message if an incorrect combination of company-account-center is entered on the GAE screen.
Accounting distributions entered on any other screen in the Inventory module are also validated real-time. Some screens do allow different combinations of company, account and center; however, validation is performed for each combination.
When accounting entries are generated during nightly off line processing, each entrys distribution can be validated by running the General Ledger Validation Report (RGLVAL). Any invalid distributions are suspended when they pass from the Financial Controller (FC) to the General Ledger (GL) module. These distributions must be corrected in the GL module.
The General Ledger Validation Report (RGLVAL) is run daily. It is located in RMDS in report group IN270-1. For more information on accessing RMDS reports, refer to Viewing and Printing RMDS Reports Step-by-Step.
