Q: What is virtual classroom training?
A It’s an advanced online learning tool used to emulate a traditional classroom environment.  This completely interactive live technology allows for two-way information sharing without the student traveling to OSC.  Not only will the student be able to view the instructor’s computer screen, the instructor will be able to view the student’s screen.  If a student is having difficulty with an exercise, the instructor will be able to view that student’s screen and quickly identify the exact problem.  Students can listen to the instructor and ask questions using teleconferencing.

Q: Aren’t these called webinars?
A No.  A webinar is an online presentation tool used to demonstrate a process or deliver information.  Using this live technology, students can only view the presenter’s computer screen and listen / ask questions using teleconferencing.

Q: What prerequisites are there to take these courses?
A Students will need to complete a session of VC 101 Virtual Classroom Overview before any subsequent virtual class can be taken.

Q: What does VC 101 cover?
A VC 101 is a virtual class itself.  After this one-hour course is completed, the student will be able to understand and use Adobe WebConnect, our virtual classroom tool.

Q: What does the student need to participate in VC 101 and other Virtual Classes?
A

The student will need access to the following technology and environment:

  1. A workspace free from distractions
  2. A headset or private office with a speakerphone
  3. Enough desk space for course materials, notes, etc.
  4. The SAP GUI installed on the computer that the student will be using
  5. Access to the training sandbox in the student’s personal portal account (click here for more info)
Q: Which classes can I “attend” in the virtual classroom?
A Not every course is suitable for virtual class offerings.  PA 210, OM 200, PY 300, PA 320, PA 350, and PA 313 are currently available as virtual classes.
