This website is hosted by the North Carolina Office of the State Controller.  We are committed to maintaining our visitors' privacy, and recognize the need for appropriate protection and management of any personal information (name, address, telephone number, etc.) you provide to us.  This policy may be updated periodically.


Information Collected and Stored Automatically:
When you visit our Web site to browse, read pages, or download information, we automatically collect and store only the following information:
  1. The Internet domain and IP address from which you access our departmental portal;
  2. The type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
  3. The date and time you access our site;
  4. The pages you visit; and
  5. If you linked to the Office of the State Controller site from another Web site, the address of that Web site.
The Office of the State Controller uses this information to help us make our site more useful to visitors, and to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use.


Personal Information:

In general, you can visit the Office of the State Controller web site without providing any personal information.  However, from time to time we offer the opportunity to request copies of financial reports and to sign up for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) sponsored courses.  In order to register online for a course, we may request personal information from you for the sole purpose of tracking registrants for a specific course.  Any information you elect to submit through an online registration process with the Office of the State Controller, WILL NOT be shared with or sold to any other agency or corporation.


Web Site Security:

For Web site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, the state utilizes a computer system that employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.  These attempts to cause damage or unauthorized access to confidential data could be subject to legal action according to N.C.G.S. § 14-453 - 459 .
